About the workshop

Have you ever wanted an alternative to woodchips or landscape fabric? If so, this is a workshop for you. Ground covers are an excellent way to protect exposed soils while also providing habitat and improving soil stability. In this workshop we will explore a variety of garden situations, plants and expand the definition of “ground covers.” Participants will learn how to select, establish and design with ground covers. No matter the size of your garden, ground covers are a great step towards building a sustainable and more resilient community garden.

Jason Duverney-Gasper, Director of Horticulture and Operations at Edible Schoolyard NYC, is leading this workshop in partnership with NYC Parks GreenThumb.
