ESYNYC is looking for volunteers to assist with weeding, composting, and general garden maintenance in our garden at P.S. 216 in Gravesend, Brooklyn!

Volunteers play an important role in our garden maintenance, supporting our small but mighty garden team and performing critical tasks that are too physically demanding for the elementary aged students we work with. We’re excited to offer this opportunity for new and returning volunteers to join us in the garden.

Please note that all volunteers must be 18+ to participate. We will be working outside, so please plan accordingly. Additional information about what to expect will be emailed to volunteers in advance of the day.

REGISTER HERE. Registration is free but required. Space is limited and registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis. We look forward to seeing you in the garden!

About our garden at P.S. 216

In 2010, Edible Schoolyard NYC transformed the cement parking lot of P.S. 216 into a flourishing half-acre organic garden. Today the P.S. 216 garden is a beautiful and welcoming space enjoyed by the entire school community. Throughout the school year, students participate in ESYNYC classes where they learn to grow and harvest more than 100 different types of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and more. ESYNYC gardens produce over 1,700 lbs of crops each year, and we distribute 95% of what we grow for free to the community.

Edible Schoolyard NYC partners with NYC public schools to cultivate healthy students and communities, transforming children's relationship with food.
